In the United States, there’s been a lot of debate over whether it’s appropriate to wear makeup and hair extensions at a salon or in a bar.
But in Canada, there are some guidelines to follow if you want to go from casual to professional.
The most important thing is to treat yourself well, says Katie Lydon, co-owner of Natural Beauty Salon.
“I know a lot more women who would wear makeup or hair extensions if they knew how to dress,” she says.
If you don’t want to make an effort to be more professional, Lydons suggests you keep a natural look for your hair and make sure your makeup is natural-looking and doesn’t contain hair oils.
You can also wear natural-colored lipstick and accessories if you prefer that, she adds.
For the best results, look for products that don’t contain harsh chemicals, like mineral oil.
There are also makeup brands that can be purchased online, but if you’re not in Canada or the U.S., you can still find products that are made in Canada.
Natural-looking makeup is always the first thing that comes to mind when you see a makeup artist, says Lydun.
She advises people to think about their own beauty routine, what they want to look like, and the product they are buying.
A natural-coloured makeup base is also a great way to show off a more natural-like appearance, she says, especially if you have a long, dark hair.
